What a crazy few days it has been. We did get a day off on Monday, but we needed it, because Tuesday was super hectic. On top of doing our normal food bank distribution we were taking applications for Christmas assistance (and like my blog description says, I'm sure we all have stories we could share!) One woman blew up at my wife and one of our employees because we asked her for $1.00 to pay for her lst food bank card replacement, which she knew up front. Man, what would this job be like without people.
But enough about my fun day. I want to hear about yours. Post a comment, either about about something I've written or something new entirely.
I'm going to finish now with a devotional thought...because if my D.C. knows all I'm doing is typing on a web page he may find more work for me to do! :0)
This is taken in part from the devotional book "Grace For The Moment", by Max Lucado, page 314.
The Voice of Adventure: "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?" ~Psalm 27:1
Like i said in my last post, we need to start thinking and acting like the founders and originators of our great Movement. We need some adventure in our lives and we need adventurous spirits. The Army needs an adventurous spirit...try new things, try old things that used to work years ago that haven't been tried in awhile...adventure..."Jesus says the options are clear. On one side there is the voice of safety. You can build a fire in the hearth, stay inside and stay warm and dry for what you don't try, right? You can't fall if you con't take a stand, right? You can't lose your balance if you never climb, right? So don't try it. Take the safe route. Or you can hear the voice of adventure. Instead of building a fire in the hearth, build a fire in your heart. Follw God's impulses. Adopt the child. Move overseas. Teach the class." Start that Particular ministry. Pray for those who persecute you. Reconcile.
"Make a difference. Sure it isn't safe, but what is?" He Still Moves Stones

Revolution Needed
Well pholks, I think the title speaks for itself. We need to have a revolution...in the Army, in the world ("The world for God" ring a bell?), and first and foremost, in ourselves. We must have an internal revolution first and from that others will see it and want to join OUR Army. Check out this quote from Geoff Ryan's book Sowing Dragons: "We didn't just talk about evangelism and read books on it. We kitted up and headed for the front and never stopped to inquire politely of people "would you like to join us?" We lived out heroic lives amid the everyday traffic and people flocked to our colours. The only question we asked was "Can you keep up?" We were heroes, to saints and sinners alike."
Pholks, we need a revolution. I believe our Army is going through a time of serious transition. We need to make some tough decisions...in our lives, in our respective assignments, and in the Army as a whole.
We need to be more like movement we were at the beginning...mobile, agile, and hostile:
Mobile: We need to be less tied to property and more tied to the people we serve and are trying to save. If something isn't working in one town...close up shop if we have to and move somewhere else. There is no sense killing ourselves, literally and spiritually when we are seeing no fruit. The word movement is defined in a couple of ways:
"1. The act or an instance of moving; a change in place or position.
2. A change in the location of troops, ships, or aircraft for tactical or strategic purposes. "
I think both fit what we should be about.
Agile: If we are an agile Movement, it will make the act of being mobile that much easier. Agile is defined as "Characterized by quickness, lightness, and ease of movement; nimble. " We need to be like fast attack special forces. We are God's Army and we have His calling. Let's move like that is true.
Hostile: Now obviously I don't mean that we should be hostile to everyone. I believe we need to be hostile to our enemy...the devil. Again, here is another definition (okay, so I like the dictionary).
1. Of, relating to, or characteristic of an enemy: hostile forces; hostile acts.
2. Feeling or showing enmity or ill will; antagonistic: a hostile remark.
3. Unfavorable to health or well-being; inhospitable or adverse: a hostile climate
We need to keep Satan on the defense. We have the Sword of the Spirit for our attacks and the rest of the armor for our protection. We need to stop cowering in our corps, ARC's and headquarters buildings and take on the devil on our terms. Again, I say, The World For God!
The World For God
Song 830
Evangeline Booth
The world for God! The world for God!
There's nothing else will meet the hunger of my soul.
I see forsaken children, I see the tears that fall
From women's eyes, once merry, now never laugh at all;
I see the sins and sorrows of those who sit in darkness;
I see in lands far distant, the hungry and oppressed.
But behold! On a hill, Calvary! Calvary!
Chorus
The world for God! The world for God!
I give my heart! I'll do my part!
The world for God! The world for God!
I give my heart! I will do my part!
2.
The world for God! The world for God!
I call to arms the soldiers of the blood and fire:
Go with the Holy Bible. Its words are peace and life
To multitudes who struggle with crime and want and strife.
Go with your songs of mercy, show Christ in loving kindness,
Make known the sufferings of the cross, the sacrifice of God;
For behold! On a hill, Calvary! Calvary!
3.
The world for God! The world for God!
For this, dear Lord, give to my soul consuming fire.
Give fire that makes men heroes, turns weakness into might,
The fire that gives the courage to suffer for the fight,
The fire that changes fearing to pentecostal daring,
The fire that makes me willing for Christ to live or die;
For behold! On a hill, Calvary! Calvary!

First Blog...10-04-04
Well, today wasn't that exciting, but God blessed me with another day and more opportunities to serve Him. Our area is still in the midst of helping flood victims from two weeks ago. I was interviewed by a news crew, but didn't make the news. I guess they felt I have a face for radio!
Our family has been through some difficulties recently with our Quarters and our kids are sick because of it, but we know that God is with us. Some days it's just a little more difficult to feel Him.
All we need to know though is, "In the beginning God created..." and "In the beginning was the Word..."
