Family Ministry

Well, today we had a meeting with the D.C. It went well. We were talking about our future in the Army...more immediate than long-term.

My wife and I were given an appointment (last June) as assistants at a corps for at least a year to "recover" and get our daughter the services she needs. Kayla has a form of autism, but on top of that, there was black mold in our last Quarters. All three kids have asthma now. It was so crazy trying to deal with all the medical needs of the kids, while keeping the Corps going and making sure our spiritual didn't falter because of it. Obviously some things fell through the cracks.

I really don't have the strength to go into the whole 18 month fiasco, except that there were some very dark days for me. We cried out for help...help from God and the Army...and they listened. We were moved to our current appointment and given the tiem that we desperately needed to get our lives and family back to where it should be.

Well, more on this later....if anyone is actually reading this...

In His Grip,
Dave

Actually there was someone reading! Some common ground here. We had to deal with black mold in our quarters here. This has been our first winter whereit hasn't appeared. We had some insulation work done over the summer which seems to have solved it. Unfortunately our daughter was given an inhaler last month to help with her breathing and to stop her coughing. They haven't used the word asthma yet, but we have our suspicions.

Also, our 4 yr old son was diagnosed as being on the Autisitc Spectrum Disorder last year and we have spent a lot of the past year securing services and help for him. This year, being our fifth here, could have been a move year, but our DC has recommended that we stay, because our son has finally got some stability in his life, with a special school and other help. So, we will be given at least two more years here, which is fine with us. It has been a tough couple of years lately, though, but at least we have had good local support.

Blessings
William

Hi Dave. You mentioned on somebody else's blog that you used to serve just outside of Pittsburgh. Do we know each other? I used to work in the youth department at the DHQ in Pittsburgh. I also used to lead the Pyros program at Camp Allegheny.
